Week 10 of Picture Inspiration.  This week's theme is "dishing it out".  Our assignment this week is to turn our lens into our own kitchen.. to photograph a favorite item.  And of coarse, photograph it in an artistic way.  I got my inspiration this week from a photo in one of my favorite magazines ... Artful Blogging.  One photo that caught my eye was a antique teacup and saucer.  The perspective was from the top, with the focus on the gold rim. 

With that, i remembered that years ago, i had started to buy vintage teacups. I thought it would be so neat to have a collection, to serve coffee with little sandwiches when my dear friends came for a visit.  Well, it was a fanciful thought...but, i ended up only buying one.  Now where was it?  After a unbelievable short search, i found it...in the basement, near a pile of tools!  There is was years later and in perfect condition and as beautiful as ever.

I photographed it over and over, and at every angle, but nothing looked just right.  I thought my photo needed a little something else.  But what?

The perfect springtime flower.  Their beauty and so soft colours are just so romantic.  I popped one into the teacup and it worked!  It was just what my photo needed!  The tiny green bud and delicate leaves helped to frame it. I focused on the delicate gold handle and used a low f-stop.   Now all i needed was the magic of photoshop and my assignment was complete.

All the textures i use on my photos come from Kim Klassen's wonderful website.  I took her e-essentials photoshop class earlier this year and learned so much!  I was able to jump from Elements3 to Elements9 without a hitch.  Her videos are just amazing.  She speaks "my language" so it is so easy to follow along and get great results.

Recently she has started a blog hop every Tuesday.  She gives us a few...very few...rules to follow. 

Would you believe that this weeks assignment was to use a photo of a teacup and apply any of her textures??  Both Kim and Picture Inspiration must have been on the same wave length.  They always say that "great minds think alike"!

What were the odds that i could use the same photo and processing for both classes?  I used the sweet treat texture over the teacup...first with a soft light filter and then again with the multiple filter at 80%.
