Labor Day at the lake...

Here it is, the last weekend of the summer.  And what a gorgeous weekend it was!  The temperatures and the humidity fell, and it was that picture perfect weekend.
We traveled up to Lake Geneva to take our favorite walk along the lake...the walk and gawk.  I can not get enough of the beauty found along the trail.
Here is a hydrangea popping its head out of a gate.

And even though the summer is winding down, we could still find beautiful wild flowers all along the path.

This week's challange for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday was to use her Cracker Jack texture in a photo.  Here is a beautiful cone flower i found still in bloom along the lake.  I processed it with a layer of cracker jack using soft light at 80% opacity.  I then applied her January Magic texture using the screen mode at 50%.  Each time i used the eraser tool  to take away some of the texture off the beautiful  flower. Kim's textures can really enhance nature's beauty, don't you think?

And as we continued our walk, we saw beautiful boats floating at the piers along the banks of the lake.  Can you imagine sailing along in this beauty?

or how about this one?  It's name says it all...."Such Fun"

And wouldn't you just love to have these "toys" docked right outside your home?

Even though it is sad to see the summer come to an end.  There is just something magical about the fall season:  the cool crisp weather, snuggling in our wool sweaters and wearing our favorite jeans again, taking walks among the falling leaves, and those great nights for sleeping!

"Rest is not idleness, and to lie on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of the water or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time."  john lubbock

Until next time...
