a delicate balance...

It is week 38 of picture inspiration.
Today's prompt is "a delicate balance".  There seems to be a delicate balance between an image and a texture.  Finding the right texture to enhance a photo is sometimes difficult and many photos look best without one.
Our challenge this week is to find that delicate balance.
I used Kim Klassen's Sienna texture and februarymagic edges on the photo above.
I have the best luck using a photo with alot of negative space...then the texture does not disappear within the image.
Also there are many modes that are available to use on a texture.  I find that soft light seems to be my "go to" mode.  I also usually reduce the opacity of the texture.  I am not a big fan of a heavy textured look.  Another trick is the eraser tool.  This comes in handy allowing me to erase some texture off the main image.

Below is my before image...straight out of the camera.  I thought that the above photo was enhanced using some texture...giving it a soft, dreamy quality.

I am just a beginner using textures. However, they have taught me alot about using photoshop elements 9.  Layers used to be a very difficult concept, but now i am able to use them with some ease.
I have so much more to learn, but i am sure having fun!

Happiness is not a matter of intensity
but of balance and order and rhythm and harmony.
