home for Christmas...

It is texture Tuesday again.
This week's assignment was to use one layer of Kim Klassen's new embrace texture on our photo.  It is a lovely soft texture with small holes adorning the top.
I desaturated my photo about 50% to get the soft look of the otherwise harsh red berries and the bright green of the needles and lightened it up alittle.  I applied Kim's February magic edges texture using the screen mode.  And then Embrace at about 50% opacity using the soft light mode.
Below is the original.  Kim's textures really can give an otherwise stark looking photo a very dreamy quality.  I still need to learn how to do the "mouse over" technique.  It is on my to-do list for this year!

This year was the first time in 29 years that my son has not been home for Christmas.  It took me alittle time and a few tears to adjust to this change.  I knew that when he got married that things would be different for him and for me.
My wish for the newlyweds was for them to enjoy their first Christmas together.  I just needed one day...any day would do!
Friday after Christmas was "my day".  We had such a wonderful evening full of laughter, food and gifts.  It was well worth the wait!

  1. I really like the difference the texture and your addition of words have done to this photo. Let me know if you need help with the mouseover effect, I have a very simple code.

  6. Ohhhhh, I am so not looking forward to when my "kids" aren't able to be home at Christmas. I have a sense this might have been my last one for awhile and I have to admit...I don't think I'm going to be very good at "sharing" them.

  9. Lovely work. The important part was that you were together. The date you celebrate is just a number.
