a true friend...

"a true friend is someone who reaches for your hand
and touches your heart"
( look for the heart in the center of the daisy...too cute!!)

It is the first of July and time for another photo~heart connection!

I have had two great visits with two long ago friends this month!
Each one i have not seen or heard from in about twenty years!
It is totally my fault for letting these friendships slip away.
At first it was unreturned phone calls, then cancelled lunch dates, missed Christmas cards and before i knew it twenty years had passed.

But all that has changed through the power of facebook.
I signed up for facebook about three years ago, but i didn't "get it".  I thought it was way too impersonal and it was just a rambling flow of people's thoughts...either you hit the like button or you just ignored the post.  If someone really wanted to connect, they would leave a one or two word comment.
It seemed to me that facebook had become a way for people to pretend that they are communicating with others, without really doing so.
I was not about to give into this social network that lacked any real social connection.

But little by little i proved myself wrong. Now i am a believer!

This month i have spent two wonderful afternoons with dear friends thru the facebook connection.  In three hours, a salad and two ice tea refills later, we had caught up on twenty years.  As true friendship go, we just seemed to pick up where we had left off.  Yes, our children are now grown, we have a few grey hairs and maybe a few extra pounds, but our bond is just as great as it was then.

Facebook has taught me the importance of friendship.  I know we can not sit down and visit with a dear friend each day, but we still can connect and touch each other's lives and show each other that we are there to read their posts and enjoy snippets of their lives even if it is just a hit of the like button!

I am linking this post up to Kat Sloma's Photo Heart Connection.
I love how she encourages us to look deeper within our photos and try to establish
a heartfelt connection.

I am sure you will be inspired to pick up your camera and shoot!

until next time...

  3. I loved the little heart in the centre of the daisy - so appropriate! How lovely to hear you have re-connected with old friends. It's never too late to reconnect, is it? Living abroad and moving away has made me lose dear old friends, maybe it's time to make the effort and follow your example of seeking out those old links. Your photo-heart connection has given me food for thought!
    Have a lovely Sunday! Sandra

  5. I love how you displayed your beautiful flowers! Yes, the power of Facebook -- it can be a great tool for staying in touch with family and friends. I've also experienced a wonderful reconnection with one of my college roommates, who I hadn't seen in years.
We bumped into each other in the woman's bathroom in a city that neither of us lives in. Such serendipity!

  9. Oh, I'm connecting with this . . . I had a similar connection. As women we absolutely need to lift each other, and support each other as friends and both as strangers!!
