"It is not enough to help the feeble up,
but to support him after"
but to support him after"
~William Shakespeare~
It is the first of August already...instead of wondering where did the summer go... I am going to focus on the fact that there is still a lot of summertime left. But it is easy for me... I do not have any little ones at home anymore, getting ready for their first exciting day of school...sigh...
So I hopped into my car and headed out to the Japanese gardens...just a short jaunt from our home.
Yellow was everywhere...and what I noticed thru the lens of my camera is that so many of the flowers were leaning on other flowers...supporting one another to withstand the gusty day. You would think that the wind would have these delicate beauties lying flat on the ground... but no... it was almost like they were helping each other stand straight and tall to face mother nature together...amazing.
Today I am linking up with Kathy over at her delightful blog..."You will Shoot Your Eye Out". Her Song~ography prompt today is a Bill Withers' song ..."Lean On Me".

Gorgeous! I am a teacher so we have a few weeks left to savor summer!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flower! I am hoping to get a little more out of summer, too!
ReplyDeleteWow on the bokeh and shallow DOF. The Japanese gardens served you well.
ReplyDeleteA very cheery interpretation and beautiful floral shot. I miss when August was the signal to wrap it up; the month where you finally contemplated being 'bored'; just enough time before the start of school to make you long for that first day. My baby starts his Senior year in just a few days with the majority of August left. A summer that included so many reading/writing assignments that he never really escaped the rigor of school so the return is more like "oh, this ...again" rather than "I can't wait!". Maybe I'll go out and find some summer flowers to cheer everyone up - some pretty yellow to lean on. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove what you wrote and your visit to the Japanese garden. We still have the whole of August before school again...but I already feel melancholic about it,the start of the end of the summer.Like what you wrote about the house you took over from your parents,it is nice to have roots and still create something new.I guess I will visit your blog more often and will be your latest follower.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. You are so creative to think of flowers leaning on each other to interpret this song. Enjoy what's left of summer!
ReplyDeleteVery, very insightful and clever! Not sure which I liked better, your photo or your thoughts....actually BOTH. I'm so glad "Lean on Me" came to mind when viewing these flowers, what you said is oh so true. Sometimes the obvious isn't always apparent. Thanks for linking up to Song-ography.
ReplyDeleteNeat interpretation! Nature really does lean on itself in those symbiotic relationships. I love your image...especially those bokeh orbs!
ReplyDeleteYour piece is a lovely interpretation. Nature provides for it's own.
ReplyDeleteI love how life gives us visuals of important lessons.....great shot.
ReplyDeleteNature always can give us such profound lessons. This shot if just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shot and I also enjoyed the lovely, inspiring words that accompanied them.
