the district meet...

It was 5:30am Sunday morning and we were up and getting ready for our daughter's
big day.  It was the district meet for Special Olympic gymnastics.
Michelle had practiced for this day for one year.
Warm~ups started at 7:30 and it was an hour away.
To top it off it was also the the first day of Daylight Savings Time...we had lost
a precious hour of sleep.
As we were on the road we saw the most beautiful sunrise...i just knew it was going to be a good day!

The gym was filled with special olympians from all over the Chicagoland area.  Participants ranged in age from 8 to 68 (or more).  Their abilities were wide ranged.  And their hopes were high.
Each said the creed aloud and the games started.

"Please help me win, but if I can not, let me be brave in the attempt"

Each olympian tried their best and were so proud of their performances.
It was a day full of hope, dreams and compassion.
It was the one day that they could show everyone what they had worked so hard for.
It was a day filled with medals but more importantly it was a day full of smiles and pride!

until next time...

p.s. Michelle competed in Level 3 rhythmic gymnastics and brought home the gold!
