gratitude...the 11.11.12 edition

It is Sunday, my favorite day...and time for alittle gratitude.
Some weeks it may seem like a small thing and other weeks it may be a biggie.  But big or small ... I am thankful.

It is Veteran's Day... for some it means a long well deserved weekend, a break from studies at school or the 9 to 5 work grind.  Also it is a weekend filled with incredible sales that lure us into the stores.  Or if we are lucky enough it is a weekend filled with delightful weather that lets us get outside before that blast of old man winter arrives.

But in our hustle and bustle, let us not forget our veterans.  These are the men and women that fought for our country so we may enjoy our freedoms.  My father~in~law fought in the "big one"...World War II, my father fought in the Korean War and my husband in the Vietnam War.  Each generation helped to protect our homeland.  Today several of my son's friends find themselves in Afghanistan.  One of his friends was on the first plane out after the bombing in New York on 9/11...another just left for Afghanistan to continue the fight.

I want to pause and thank each one for their service to our dear country.

For the men and women in our military...I am thankful.

Until next time...
NancyJean

  1. As am I... I take Veterans Day and Memorial Day very seriously...take time to pause...my 5th great grandfather fought in the Revolutionary War...my 2nd great grandfather fought in the Civil War and was a prisoner of war...my grandfather fought in World War I and received the purple heart...and my father was in World War II, in the Pacific...and my nephew served in Iraq and Afghanistan. I truly doubt those of us who have always have had freedom realize its preciousness and what this gift has cost. Thank you for your poignant reminder.

  12. Hi there would you mind sharing which blog platform you're working with? I'm planning to start my own blog soon but I'm having a difficult time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something unique.
P.S My apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!
